The Story
Listening to vinyl is more than just playing music. It’s a ritual. Choosing the record, taking it out of the sleeve, placing it on the turntable, lowering the needle, and letting the sound fill everything. And if it’s with a good coffee, even better.
As a child, in 90s Havana, when the blackouts allowed, the Soviet turntable would come to life in my living room. There wasn’t much else to do, so I’d play 60s records over and over, while my grandfather told me stories of his life as a musician. He spoke of stages, of endless nights, of songs that never got recorded. And although some of those records weren’t as well-kept as I would have liked, they sounded as if they hid secrets between the grooves.
Many years have passed since my grandfather left me, but he left me his passion. For music, for records, and for stories. And every time I place a vinyl on the turntable, I return to the same place: my living room in Havana, with the sun filtering through the window and my grandfather’s voice accompanying every note.
The years went by, but the ritual remained intact. Almost every afternoon, between coffee and vinyls, the conversations revolved around everything and nothing: work, crazy ideas, theories on how to fix the world. Until one day, in the middle of one of those chats, a question arose:
“Have you realized how difficult it is to find decent furniture for vinyls?”
It was true. They were either fragile, or heavy, or simply ugly as sin. The solution was obvious: do something about it.
It wasn’t just about creating a piece of furniture. It was about respecting the ritual. About making something functional, easy to transport, that would serve both those with a giant collection and those who are just starting. Something that would do justice to the physical format.
That’s how Keep Them Spinning was born. What started with an idea over coffee and records became a brand with thousands of sales. But beyond that, we continue with the same ritual: every afternoon, a record, a coffee, and the desire to continue creating furniture and racks for everyone who loves music as much as we do.
